Youth United: Develop a Global Mindset and become a World Citizen
19th of March 2021
PRESS RELEASE: Through this event, AIESEC in Singapore fosters cross-cultural understanding and drives conversations about the increasing use of Social Media Activism.
On the 19th of March, 2021, AIESEC in Singapore will host Youth United on a Virtual Event Platform.
At AIESEC, we believe that cross-cultural understanding is the key to achieve peace and fulfillment of humankind’s potential. We place our confidence in youth because they have the passion, dynamism, and entrepreneurial spirit that are needed to shape the future. They have the
responsibility to improve tomorrow by choosing who they will be today.
In a Globally Connected World, the importance of cross-cultural understanding cannot be stressed enough. Cross-Cultural Understanding leads to individuals overcoming and preventing racial and ethnic divisions and by being open to diverse perspectives an individual becomes more capable to make better decisions.
Each culture has its pros and cons but the two sides of the coin should be clearly shown to semi-adults and young adults. Their education will be more useful only when there is something they can work on and they will know what to work on only when they know what each culture is struggling with and what they are doing right.
Exchange programs and cross-cultural interactions can also bring down animosity towards a particular culture and open up inquisitiveness and eventually lead the youngsters of different cultures to work towards the same goals bringing in different perspectives and solutions.
Today, the youth represent over 1.8 billion people in the world. Each youngster bringing in a cultural perspective can make a huge difference thereby creating opportunities for change.
AIESEC in Singapore has created an opportunity for these young people to give each other a chance to share and receive thereby facilitating one of the most important processes for any youngster in the world.
AIESEC is the world’s largest youth-led organization creating opportunities for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. With offices in more than 125 countries and territories, AIESEC is a non-political, independent, not-for-profit organization run by youth for youth.
